One Dollar Double Cheese Burger
Today, I had some Mc Donald’s. It was about 2 o’ clock in the afternoon and
I have not had anything to eat, so I ordered two double cheese burgers, two mc
chickens, a large fry, and a big Mac for my little sister. When we got back home,
the first thing I bit into was the double cheese burger and it tasted delicious. The
mix of ketchup, mustard, and grilled onions gave an excellent taste to the two
greasy meat patties that were placed between the glossy buns.
I thought to myself, “Whoever invented this is a genius.” Mc Donald’s double cheese
burger has two meat patties instead of the normal and plain burger that just has
one. It is small enough where it fits perfectly into an average size person’s hand
and well put together so there is not any real mess to clean up. For example, those
burgers that person orders at a five star restaurant hoping for it to be good
because he or she just paid ten bucks for it. (Mc Donald’s double cheese burger only
being one dollar, which is affordable and tastes great.)
In the end, the person leaves unsatisfied because the five-star burger fell apart
and the person ended up eating it with a folk. No one wants to eat burgers and fries
with a folk. When I was holding the double cheese burger in my hand, I felt the
softness of the bun and knew when I took the first bite it was going to be good. The
reason why people prefer finger food over using utensil is because when people feel
their food they are using one of their five senses, touch, to make a deep
connection. The connection comes from touching the actual food that brings back
familiar feelings from past memories.
Overall, I was satisfied eating some Mc Donald’s for today. I know it might not be
as good as eating at a restaurant, but it is affordable and me being a college
student work out great. I got plenty of food for a good price that filled up my
stomach, which makes my day happy.

Dim Sum
A few days ago, I went with a couple of friends to get some Dim Sum. For those who
have never heard of Dim Sum before, it is a type of Chinese restaurant that serve a
variety of food such deserts, fruits, vegetables, meat, and mainly seafood dishes.
Most of the dishes are light dishes meaning that there is not a lot of one item on a
single plate. People that eat at dim sum can have a variety of food to choose from.
Since I have not had Dim Sum in such a long time, when I first bit into the steamed
meat dumplings it brought tingling sensation to my taste buds.
I think everyone should try dim sum because it will be a perfect eye opener
for people to experience a part of the Chinese culture. There is no other restaurant
experience that can match it. The restaurant hires old fragile Chinese women to push
around these heavy food carts around the restaurant, so the customers can see and
pick the type of food they desire right there and then. No other style of restaurant
that I know of offers such a unique service, where I can see what I like and have it
on the table in a matter of seconds. I call this great service. One of the most
impressive things about Dim Sum is having a huge variety of food to choose from.
People can choose from wontons to lotus leaf rice or egg tart to sesame seed balls,
but I am going to talk about one of the more popular dishes called Sui Mai.
Let’s start with the most dish called steamed meat dumplings or in the in the
ancient language, Siu Mai (sue my). Steamed meat dumplings are made by pressing a
thin round egg-and-flour wrapper around a bite-size meat filling, which is usually
pork, and leaves the top of it expose. For my personal opinion, the reason for it
being very delicious is because it is juicy, soft and gives off a good meaty taste.
Also, a very important thing about them is that they are bite size. This is
important because when eating people do not want troubles such as having to pick and
spit out bonds or even use a knife cut into the meat. People generally like easy and
simple task. Therefore, besides steamed meat dumplings being extremely delicious,
they are also easy to eat which makes them reasonable to be one of the most favorite
dishes of dim sum.
Overall, I always have a good time eating at Dim Sum because having a good selection
of food to choose is always a plus. Also, it is typically the norm to eat five
different dishes because they are so tiny, which is a good to try different kinds
foods. Finally, I would recommend anyone who likes to eat Chinese food and seafood
to go and try Dim Sum.

What is it Called? Thai Iced Tea
Since the beginning of my life I have been integrated into the Asian
culture. To be more specific I have been raised in a Vietnamese and Chinese
household where plenty of chow mein, fried rice, and pho dishes have been created
and devoured. I must admit that people raise in an Asian culture do have a good
section of food to eat, but one of my favorite items to choose when I am at a
Vietnamese or Chinese restaurant is not a dish, but a drink. Thai iced tea is one of
the must have that I always choose when I have the chance to have with my meal.
The other day my friend John, who is Caucasian, and I went to eat at Pho 79,
which is located in Orange County on the intersection between Brookhurst and
Hazard. This Pho restaurant has been in business since my dad came to Southern
California more than 25 years ago, so food must be good since it has been in
business for such a long time. As the food that we ordered came and was placed on
our table I asked, “John, have you ever tried Thai Tea before” and he said, “No, I
never heard of that before. What is it?” A part of me knew that he have never tried
it before, so I ordered us two Thai Iced Teas. When the waiter brought out the Thai
Iced Teas he gave a confused look and said, “Why does it have a orange and white
layer?” As I laughed quietly, I told him, “Just mix it together with your straw and
try it.” As he began to sip the drink his face started to light up as if he was
watching fire works for the first time. At that very moment I knew that he loved it,
but just to make sure I asked if he liked it and he responded by saying, “I love it,
I have to get another one…What is it called again?”
What makes Thai Iced tea such a good drink is that it is different from the
everyday soda, water, and juice drinks that I see every day on campus and in the
local American stores that I frequently visit. I do not think there will be ever see
the day when there will be vending machines or soda dispensers that has Thai Iced
Tea as a selection. Having its own originality because it consists of milk and Thai
tea makes it a hard drink to compete with because it gives off a sweet creamy taste,
which the majority of the population loves. Also, having Thai Iced Tea brings back
good childhood memories when I would eat with my parents and grandparents. Overall,
Thai ice tea will satisfy any person’s sweet tooth and make any Asian style meal
more enjoyable.
